Mineralizacja materii organicznej w glebie jest \u017ar\u00f3d\u0142em CO2 \u2013 bezwodnika kwasowego kwasu w\u0119glowego. Ponadto, w glebach powstaj\u0105 kwasy azotowy i siarkowy jako produkty mikrobiologicznych przemian zwi\u0105zk\u00f3w azotu i siarki. Od tego czasu problem zakwaszenia gleb, a szczeg\u00f3lnie problem substancji toksycznych pojawiaj\u0105cych si\u0119 w wyniku silnego zakwaszenia gleb, stanowi najpowa\u017cniejszy czynnik niskiej produktywno\u015bci gleb uprawnych i malej efektywno\u015bci nawo\u017cenia mineralnego w Polsce (Lipi\u0144ski 2005, Tkaczyk i Bednarek 2011). Dzia\u0142alno\u015b\u0107 cz\u0142owieka zwi\u0105zana z zanieczyszczeniem powietrza, funkcjonowanie w coraz wi\u0119kszym stopniu przemys\u0142u, stosowanie nawo\u017cenia mineralnego g\u0142\u00f3wnie azotowego amonowego , amidowego oraz potasowego, kwa\u015bne deszcze jak i r\u00f3wnie\u017c intensyfikacja rolnictwa to g\u0142\u00f3wne czynniki powoduj\u0105ce zakwaszenie gleby. Przyczyn\u0105 zakwaszenia w znacznym zakresie jest wyniesienie CaO wraz z plonem od 50 do 300 kg ha-1. Gleba zostaje zakwaszona r\u00f3wnie\u017c po nawo\u017ceniu obornikiem i gnojowic\u0105 w wyniku zachodz\u0105cego procesu nitryfikacji azotu amonowego.<br \/>W tabeli 1 przedstawiono wp\u0142yw nawoz\u00f3w mineralnych i naturalnych na pH gleby. Stosowanie nawo\u017cenia mineralnego wp\u0142ywa znacz\u0105co na odczyn gleby. Dzia\u0142anie nawoz\u00f3w mineralnych na odczyn gleby zale\u017cy od ich w\u0142a\u015bciwo\u015bci.
